Days after scores of people died in a bomb blast at Nyanya, Abuja, a
suspected bomber has been arrested by members of the public and handed
over to the police.
The unnamed suspect was arrested on Monday near a mosque at Garki
village, Abuja and taken to the local chief's palace before officers
of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command took him into
custody.
Reports say bystanders saw him scouting around the mosque while
speaking to an unidentified accomplice on his mobile phone about his
plans to blow up the mosque.
Angry residents apprehended and beat up the would-be-bomber before
taking him the palace of the chief Alhaji Usman Nga Kupi.
A palace guard also told Abuja based newspaper that the suspect
admitted to be carrying out an assessment of the mosque before
carrying out his bomb attack.
Official comments are still expected from the spokesperson of the FCT
Police Command DSP Altine Daniel was unsuccessful at the time of
filing this report.
