Oral Sex Can Give You Throat Cancer!

These days, cunnilingus, also called oral sex or blowjob, pops up in
almost every sex-related conversation. What used be an embarrassing
topic has become a subject for raunchy jokes and candid bedroom
chat-menus.

In fact, a check on sex-related forums shows that oral sex is much
talked-about, desired and demanded by people in sexual relationships –
even more than traditional sex. A man had even gone as far as seeking
divorce from his wife because she would not oblige him with oral sex.

Bow, while many would say oral sex is fun, today I bring what might be
seen as bad news by some... it can also expose you to oral/throat and
neck cancer!

Oral cancers include cancers of the mouth, lip and tongue, as well as
cancers of the tonsils, oesophagus, larynx (voice box), nasopharynx
(the area that connects the nose and throat) and the thyroid gland.

Recent research suggest that people who have oral sex are at a greater
rist of throat cancer and the suspect is a well known strain of the
Human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that can cause genital warts,
cancers of the cervix, anus, penis, vulva, vagina — and head and neck.
It is very dangerous and often doesn't show any symptoms, says
Healthland.

It is not a myth. You better believe it!

"The types of HPV found in the mouth are almost entirely sexually
transmitted so it's likely that oral sex is the primary route of
getting them," says NHS.

It is even more a cause for concern because identifying people
infected with HPV is difficult says the US Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC).

"There is no certain way to know which people infected with HPV will
go on to develop cancer," CDC wrote on its website.

It also noted that, "HPV is so common that nearly all sexually active
men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their
lives."

HPV infection can be there for years without showing signs. This means
you can get throat cancer, passed on to you by your partner during
oral sex without even knowing.
And can go without symptoms for years after infection.

"So, it is important to note that a lack of symptoms does not
guarantee that you or your partner is HPV-free," warns Go Ask Alice.

It must be noted however HPV is not the only danger you face when it
comes to having unprotected oral sex because there are other sexually
transmitted diseases like herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea and HIV also
lurking in the dark of sexual waters...waiting to bite.

Bottom line is, protected sex is the best for you, orally, anally or otherwise.
